The talks are planned during a meeting of the so-called Arraiolos Group, which brings together presidents from EU member states who do not have direct executive powers in their countries.
According to the head of Duda’s Cabinet, Krzysztof Szczerski, the agenda includes the issue of Poland’s reparation claims toward Germany for the losses suffered during World War II.
Apart from the Polish and German presidents, the two-day meeting in La Valetta will be attended by heads of state from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Portugal, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy and Malta.
The debate is to focus on the current threats and challenges facing the European Union.
The Arraiolos Group is named after the small Portuguese town where the first such meeting took place in 2003. (mk/gs)
