Polish president aims to drum up trade with Vietnam

Polish President Andrzej Duda on Monday started a four-day visit to Vietnam aiming to boost bilateral trade.

Duda was accompanied by officials and 65 Polish entrepreneurs who were to take part in a Polish-Vietnamese economic forum in Ho Chi Minh City.

During his trip, Duda was to meet Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Jakub Królczyk, a Polish expert on Vietnam, told Polish Radio that country was one of the fastest developing in Southeast Asia, with GDP growth of almost 6.7%.

A free trade deal between the EU and Vietnam is to come into force in several months, Polish Radio reported.

Duda said ahead of his trip that supporting Polish businesses in expanding abroad was one of his goals during his term in office.
