The two officials met at NATO’s Brussels headquarters on Monday to discuss "the state of implementation" of 2016 decisions to bolster the eastern flank, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

NATO leaders meeting at a summit in Warsaw in July 2016 decided to deploy four multinational battalions to Poland and three Baltic states amid fears of potential Russian aggression following Moscow's annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Those historic decisions are viewed within the alliance as key to ensuring the security of Central and Eastern Europe, Czaputowicz said after meeting Stoltenberg.

“We talked about deepening these decisions,” he added.
