The trip to the Polish capital will mark his second official foreign visit after Paris, Maas announced during his first speech as foreign minister in Berlin on Wednesday, according to the Deutsche Welle news agency.

Meanwhile, Polish media outlets also speculate that German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Poland in the coming days as well, IAR reported.

The chancellery’s spokesperson did not confirm nor deny such reports.

Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Social Democrats (SPD) signed a coalition agreement on Monday, paving the way for a fourth term as chancellor for Merkel. (aba/pk)
