The Bloomberg news agency recently listed the Polish capital as one of nine potential locations for an unprecedented meeting between the two leaders.

Trump hopes the meeting will persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear weapons.

Asked whether Polish diplomats were trying to organise a meeting between Trump and Kim Jong Un in Warsaw, and whether this would be realistic, Duda did not answer directly, the IAR news agency reported.

"The task of diplomats, especially from a country that, like Poland, is a member of the UN Security Council, is to create situations of the kind that allow peace in the world to last as ... long as possible. That’s how I can answer this question," Duda told state broadcaster Polish Radio.

Bloomberg reported that North Korea had a spacious embassy in Warsaw, which it noted was the site of Trump’s first major public speech in Europe last July.

Bloomberg added that Sweden and Switzerland were among locations the White House was considering for a summit.
