Proposed new EU budget to be unveiled

Fears that Warsaw will lose a massive chunk of EU funds are likely to prove unfounded, Polish media have reported as the European Commission was on Wednesday to unveil a proposed new budget for the bloc.

Public broadcaster Polish Radio reported that spending on the European Union's cohesion policy was set to be cut by 10 percent and agricultural spending by five percent.
The commission’s proposals for the EU’s 2021-2027 budget are to be followed by negotiations between the bloc’s member countries, with each trying to secure the biggest slice of the pie it can.
Polish Radio reported that the commission, the EU's executive, has proposed earmarking EUR 392 billion for cohesion funds and EUR 336 billion for agricultural policy in total.
The final shape of the EU budget is to be hammered out by the autumn of next year.
