Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, French President Emmanuel Macron and US leader Donald Trump were among those who have sent congratulatory messages to Poland’s President Andrzej Duda with greetings for the Polish people, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Trump in his message stressed the importance of the Polish constitution of May 3, 1791, one of the oldest constitutions in the world, according to IAR.

Trump also said that Poland was a valued NATO ally and partner, a country with which the United States shared long-lasting bonds of cooperation and friendship, IAR reported, citing the US president in Polish.

Germany’s Steinmeier called the historic Polish constitution a milestone in the history of Europe and said that it became a model for similar legislation in other European countries, including Germany, IAR said.

The German president also said in his message that he looked forward to a planned visit to Warsaw, IAR reported.

France’s Macron, meanwhile, extended his greetings to the Polish people and voiced his desire to deepen Polish-French ties for the benefit of Europe, according to IAR.

The kings of Sweden, the Netherlands, and Morocco and the presidents of Hungary, Austria, Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Mexico, India and Egypt were also among the foreign leaders who sent congratulatory messages to Poland, according to IAR.

Poland marks Constitution Day on May 3, while November 11 is Independence Day, commemorating the anniversary of the restoration of Poland's sovereignty.

Poland is this year celebrating the 100th anniversary of regaining independence.

Poland re-emerged as an independent state on November 11, 1918 after 123 years of foreign rule.
