Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz was on a trip to Senegal that started on Sunday and was due to last until Tuesday.

He was scheduled to be a keynote speaker at the International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa, an event held annually since 2014, according to the Polish foreign ministry.

During the conference, Czaputowicz was expected to lead a panel discussion focusing on law, freedom and justice in the context of security challenges, the Polish foreign ministry has said.

The conference starting in Dakar on Monday was due to be attended by foreign and defence ministers from various countries, in addition to international security and technology experts.

As part of his trip, Czaputowicz has visited an orphanage run by Polish nuns in Senegal.

Czaputowicz in June met ambassadors from sub-Saharan African countries in Warsaw. During the meeting, he said that Poland saw major potential and multiple business opportunities in Africa.

He added that the government in Warsaw was interested in developing relations with countries in the region.
