Jacek Czaputowicz was due to hold talks with his counterpart Carmelo Abela and was also scheduled to meet Maltese President Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca and Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

During the talks, Czaputowicz was expected to discuss bilateral political and economic ties as well as European issues, including the future of the European Union, Brexit, the European Neighbourhood Policy, and “Poland's commitment to tackling illegal migration into Europe,” according to the Polish foreign ministry.

Czaputowicz was scheduled to take part in a public debate on common EU values during which he was expected to deliver a lecture entitled "European Neighbourhood: Challenges and Opportunities."

While in Valletta, Czaputowicz was also expected to lay a wreath at a plaque commemorating Polish sailors who were killed while defending Malta during World War II.
