In an interview with British broadcaster Channel 4, Morawiecki said on Wednesday that Poland had intense political, social, and economic ties with the UK.

“I’ve actually agreed with the prime minister of the UK that [we will treat our citizens] on a reciprocal basis,” Morawiecki said.

“It doesn’t matter what happens, but I strongly believe we will find an appropriate compromise in all this,” he added.

Morawiecki said last week that preserving the rights of Poles living in Britain was a key priority for Warsaw in the UK’s divorce from the EU.

A record 1.02 million Poles lived in Britain at the end of 2017, according to the UK Office for National Statistics.
