The meeting in the German capital on Thursday will be the two foreign ministers' fifth this year, according to the Polish foreign ministry.

Czaputowicz and Maas are expected to discuss a spectrum of bilateral, European and international issues, including “the security situation, particularly in the context of the escalating Russian-Ukrainian conflict,” the Polish foreign ministry said on its website.

The two top diplomats previously met when politicians from Poland and Germany held bilateral intergovernmental talks in Warsaw on November 2.

While in Berlin Czaputowicz will also meet Wolfgang Schäuble, president of Germany's Bundestag, or lower house of parliament, according to the Polish foreign ministry.
