Jacek Czaputowicz was speaking after he this week traveled to Brazil to attend the inauguration of that country’s new conservative president Jair Bolsonaro.

Czaputowicz told public broadcaster Polish Radio he congratulated the new president on his election victory.

He also said that Bolsonaro “has a very ambitious plan of reforming the country, fighting corruption and improving Brazil’s position in international relations.”

Brazil is “carrying out reforms based on Christian values, which is a great foundation to build political relations and bilateral cooperation,” Czaputowicz added.

On Wednesday, Czaputowicz met Brazil’s new Foreign Minister Ernesto Araújo and invited him to visit Warsaw, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

Bolsonaro was elected the next president of Brazil after winning 55 percent of the vote in a run-off against a leftist rival on October 28. He was sworn into office on January 1.
