The four-nation Visegrad Group (V4) is a regional cooperation platform that brings together Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The group’s upcoming summit in Jerusalem, scheduled for February 18-19, will be its first outside Europe, public broadcaster Polish Radio's IAR news agency reported.

The four countries are expected to be represented by their prime ministers, with Poland’s Mateusz Morawiecki arriving to hold talks with the Czech Republic’s Andrej Babiš, Slovakia’s Peter Pellegrini and Hungary’s Viktor Orban.

The Central European leaders will come to Jerusalem responding to an invitation from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to IAR.

The talks are expected to tackle ways of helping Netanyahu deal with what he sees as unfair European Union policies toward Israel, the news agency reported.

IAR cited Israeli media as reporting that Netanyahu, through close relations with Central European countries, wants to influence the EU’s critical stance towards him over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
