In a joint opinion piece published by CNN, Poland’s Jacek Czaputowicz and America’s Mike Pompeo said they sought "solidarity from all countries this week in Warsaw" as they were set to co-host the “Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East” conference.

“Our goal is to forge stronger partnerships and advance our common security goals in a region riddled by conflict,” Czaputowicz and Pompeo said in their joint opinion piece, which was posted by CNN on its website ahead of the event on Wednesday.

The two top diplomats also said that the meeting, which is bringing together more than 60 nations and representatives from the European Union and NATO, “is historic for showing our seriousness and unity of purpose.”

Topics up for discussion in Warsaw included “violent instability in Syria and Yemen, as well as efforts to achieve a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians,” according to Czaputowicz and Pompeo.

They said the conference was also expected to discuss issues such as missile proliferation, energy security, emerging cyber-based threats, counterterrorism, and humanitarian aid.

“Our broad goal is to hear every nation's unscripted, candid ideas for how to make progress on these issues, and more,” Czaputowicz and Pompeo said in their joint opinion piece.

“Our hope is that real conversations will drive real action,” they added.
