Norway, EEA Grants to support Polish education system

Poland is to receive some PLN 90 million (EUR 21m) for education from the Norway Grants and EEA (European Economic Area) Grants under an agreement signed in Warsaw on Friday.

The money will be spent on professional education, scholarship programmes and teacher training programmes.

Norway’s ambassador to Poland, Olav Myklebust, said the grants “offers institutions an opportunity of cooperation and scientific exchange, as well as developing education in Poland.”

The Norway Grants are financed by Norway and available in 13 EU member countries that joined the bloc in 2004, 2007 and 2013.

The EEA Grants are jointly financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. They are available to the 13 EU member countries that joined the EU and the European Economic Area in 2004, 2007 and 2013 as well as Greece and Portugal.
