The Polish president is on Wednesday scheduled to meet with US leader Donald Trump to discuss “the growing United States-Poland strategic partnership and a range of mutual interests, including defense, security, energy, and trade matters,” according to a statement last month by the White House press secretary.

Foreign Minister Czaputowicz will that day take part in a meeting of Polish and US delegations to “review the implementation of arrangements” set out in a bilateral strategic partnership declaration signed by the two countries’ presidents at the White House in September last year.

On Wednesday, Polish and US officials will also sum up “arrangements” for a planned strengthening of US troop presence in Poland and discuss the prospects and long-term priorities of Polish-American cooperation, according to the foreign ministry in Warsaw.

Krzysztof Szczerski, chief of staff to the Polish head of state, told reporters on Monday that negotiations on a political deal for a stepped-up US military presence in Poland had been concluded and that the US troop presence in Poland "will be increased both in terms of quality and quantity."

During his trip to the United States, Poland’s top diplomat will on Thursday visit New York to take part in a UN Security Council briefing on cooperation between the United Nations and the League of Arab States, the Polish foreign ministry said.

It added that the discussion was expected to focus on challenges to international peace and security including terrorism and extremism.

While in New York, Czaputowicz will hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the UN Security Council briefing, the Polish foreign ministry also said.
