Andrzej Duda was on Friday scheduled to meet with executives from American energy companies and visit an LNG terminal on the border between the southern US states of Texas and Louisiana.

During his visit to the Sabine Pass LNG terminal, from where liquefied natural gas shipments have been dispatched to Poland, President Duda was expected to be accompanied by US Energy Secretary Rick Perry.

President Duda was on Friday also due to stop by the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to attend the signing by Poland’s health minister of a medical cooperation agreement with the renowned cancer treatment facility.

Duda’s itinerary also included a meeting with Polish American doctors working at the Houston centre, part of the University of Texas, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The Polish president, accompanied by First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda, on Wednesday met with US leader Donald Trump and the US first lady, Melania Trump, at the White House, an event during which the two countries announced a deal on a stepped-up American military presence in Poland while also sealing a raft of economic agreements.

Polish state-run oil and gas company PGNiG on Wednesday announced the signing of an agreement with US company Venture Global LNG to buy an additional 1.5 million tonnes of LNG per year as part of efforts to diversify supplies.

In another agreement on Wednesday, Poland and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in civilian nuclear energy.

The Polish first couple on Thursday met with several hundred Polish Americans in Houston, Texas, thanking them for cultivating national culture and traditions.

During his six-day trip to the United States, the Polish president is also scheduled to visit the western states of Nevada and California.
