Polish Foreign Ministry condemns Oslo attacks

The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the Friday terrorist attacks in Norway, extending its condolences to the families of the 91 victims killed in the twin assaults.

“The Polish nation is united in grief with the Norwegian people. You may count on our solidarity,” reads a statement released by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in response to the attacks. The communiqué went on to say: “We are certain that all the perpetrators will be seized and punished.”

In a personal letter to King Harald V of Norway, President Bronisław Komorowski expressed shock at the tragic events and offered his condolences to the families of those who died in the tragedies.

Seven people were killed in a bomb blast in central Oslo, 84 were murdered in a shooting on the island of Utoya. The death toll of the latter could rise further as police continues searching for bodies in the waters surrounding the island.

Addressing the recent events in Norway, Poland’s Internal Security Agency has assured that no heightened risk of terrorist attack exists in Poland. (aba/jb)
