A Polish tourist has died in Kirgizstan while climbing the Peak Pobeda or Victory Peak, the highest mountain in the Tian Shan.
A press officer from the foreign ministry Rafal Sobczak has confirmed the information received via Polish diplomats in Kazakhstan.
“The Polish consulate general in Alma Ata received the information from the climber’s friends,” Sobczak said.
The cause of death was probably brain swelling.
Rescuers are expected on the spot today to bring the body of the climber down. (kk)
