Fallen soldier in Afghanistan arrives home

A coffin with the body of Lance Corporal Szymon Sitarczuk, who died in Afghanistan last Thursday, was brought to Poland onboard a military plane today.

The body was received with military honors at the airport in the western city of Wrocław.
The funeral ceremony of will take place in the locality of Głogówek on Thursday.
The 28-years-old served in the Polish Army since 2004 and was killed by an improvised explosive device (IED) during a patrol in the Ghazni province, south east Afghanistan.
He is the 28th Pole killed in Afghanistan since 2007 when Poland became involved in the NATO – led multinational ISAF mission.
There are currently around 2,500 troops stationed in the country. (di/pg)
