Komorowski is also expected to meet with Polish MEPs and lay flowers at a memorial placque dedicated to Professor Bronislaw Geremek, himself an MEP and former Polish foreign minister.

After meeting with Jerzy Buzek, President Komorowski is to speak at the parliament at noon.

The presidential address comes as Poland marks the half-way point of its six-month EU Council presidency.

“Komorowski’s speech is especially important due to Poland’s presidency of the EU Council,” spokesperson for the Presidential Chancellery, Joanna Trzaska-Wieczorek told journalists ahead of today’s meeting.

Last Friday Bronislaw Komorowski was in Brussels to meet with the President of the EU Council, Herman van Rompuy. Discussions then on the agenda included the Eastern Partnership summit billed for the end of September in Warsaw. (jb)
