Five hundred bidders crowded into the Desa Unicum house to bid for 238 photographs by the famous fashion photographer, one of which was the iconic image of Monroe on a bed in a ballerina's dress, which sold for 60,000 zloty (20,000 USD).
Photographs of Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, Paul Newman, Alfred Hitchcock and Marlon Brando also went under the hammer in Warsaw.
Bidders included Jerzy Owsiak, who runs one of Poland's biggest charities, the Great Orchestra of Holiday Aid. (pg)
