“I think in a way it's something that a lot of people have been waiting for, in the sense that it's art that has surfaced from the experience of World War II and ultimately the Holocaust, which has a value in itself as art,” Canadian-born translator Soren Gauger told our reporter Nick Hodge.

Krakow-born Ryszard Apte presented his drawings to a Polish family in the darkest days of the Second World War.

A selection of this work is now on show at the Galicia Jewish Museum in Krakow, under the title of “Anxiety”.

In this report, curators Kinga Sozanska and Anna Janeczko reflect on the discovery of an extraordinary talent.

"Anxiety" is set to run until late March 2013.
