The 'Life in Architecture' awards are organised by the magazine Architektura-Murator, and there have been six editions to date since 1996, five focused solely on Warsaw and one nationwide.

Members of the jury included chairman of the Association of Polish Architects (SARP) Jerzy Grochulski and chairman of the Polish Chamber of Architects Wojciech Gesiak.

However, the decisions were not confined to the jury.

In a special public prize voted over the internet, punters picked the new Lublin Airport as their favourite Polish building from the period 2000-2012. Some 268,000 votes were cast in the public contest, with the public choosing from 120 possible buildings. (nh/pg)
