Isungset, who has travelled the globe performing on instruments constructed from such unlikely materials as ice and granite, delighted his audience with a concert of his inimitable sounds.

The sonic pioneer ideally likes to play on instruments fashioned from pure ice from his native Norwegian lakes or rivers.

His foray into ice music began in 1999, when he was commissioned to perform a concert in a frozen waterfall at the Lillehammer Ice Festival.

He hit upon the idea of using elements from the river for his repertoire, ultimately weaving ice itself into the compositions.

Since then, Terje Isungset hasn't looked back, launching an ice music festival and releasing a string of albums on his label, All Ice Records. (nh)
