Director Malgorzata Szumowska's In the Name of... (W imie...) was described by the jury as “a courageous film”, as affirmed on the festival's official web site.

Over a hundred movies by female directors across the globe had been submitted for the festival's International Feature Film Award, and these were whittled down to just eight.

In the Name of... explores the plight of a priest (played by Andrzej Chyra) who transfers from the city to a village. He proves a popular figure in the community, and busies himself providing help to young men from broken homes.

However, the pastor is concealing his traumatic past, likewise his feelings for one of the inhabitants of the village.

In February, Szumowska told Polish Radio that In the Name of... “is a gentle, subtle film that doesn't attack anyone, as that was not the aim.”

The director was awarded 25,000 euros for taking the top prize. (nh)
