It had been a long wait for spring to start this year, and over the last few days, it's not just been leaves that have been budding in the Silesian capital.

Curious installations have been springing up across the city, both on major thoroughfares and down quiet back streets.

Artists from across Poland and beyond are taking part in the event, with workshops and concerts held daily.

On Monday, Matylda Salajewska and Szymon Motyl completed an installation on Mariacka Street, entitled Falkor's Skin Part 2 (pictured above).

As those who grew up in the eighties might remember, Falkor was the friendly dragon from the film Neverending Story (unfortunately, mullet-haired UK pop star Limahl, who sung the movie's theme tune, was not in attendance).

The 3rd Street Art Festival lasts until 28 April. (nh)
