The jury likewise presented a Special Award to Dane Lise Frolund, and two Poles, Zyta Kaleta and Jolanta Rudzka-Habisiak.

The main show is complemented by the National Exhibition of Unique Fabrics, the 10th National Exhibition of Textile Miniatures and the Young Textile Art Triennial.

The International International Triennial of Tapestry was launched in Lodz in 1972, and it has developed into one of the world's most lively forums for contemporary textile art.

The event has been supported by guests including internationally acclaimed Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz, whose uncanny 'Abakan' sculptures are woven from fabric according to a technique invented by the artist herself. (nh)
