Eighties rock veterans Bon Jovi played the band's first ever Polish concert on Wednesday, with a gig at Gdansk's PGE Arena.

In true All American style, the soaring stage resembled an approaching cadillac (see below.)

Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi may have decidedly shorter locks than in his 1980s heyday, but unlike Samson, he appears to have lost none of his power when it comes to belting out high energy anthems.

According to the organisers of the concert, over 30,000 people turned out for the gig, and not just from Poland. Fans from 32 other countries made the pilgrimage to catch the rock legends.

The crowd got what it wanted, with renditions of hits such as 'Livin on a Prayer', 'It's my Life' and 'You Give Love a Bad Name.'

All the encores, including 'Wanted dead or alive', began with choral openings, before the guitars kicked in.

“It took us thirty years to get here,” Jon Bon reflected at the end.

“I don't know why it took us so long. We'll see you again – we'll definitely come back.” (nh)
