They include Boris Gildburg (First Prize winner of this year’s Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels), Vadim Kholodenko (First Prize winner of the 2013 Van Cliburn Competition) and Federico Colli (the winner of the 2012 Leeds Piano Competition).

One of the events on the festival programme is a tribute to the prominent Polish pianist and editor of Chopin’s works Jan Ekier, who turns 100 at the end of this month.

The Festival in Duszniki is the oldest music festival in Poland. Launched in 1946 and it has been held every year since and commemorates Chopin’s stay in the spa in 1826.
The composer was 16 years old when he came to Duszniki (then Bad Reinerz) for treatment and gave two benefit concerts.

The long list of famous pianists who have performed in Duszniki includes Vladimir Ashkenazy, Ryszard Bakst, Raul Koczalski, Stanislaw Szpinalski, Barbara Hesse-Bukowska, Lidia Grychtołowna, Adam Harasiewicz, Fu ‘Tsong, Bella Davidovich, Garrick Ohlsson, Krystian Zimerman, Paul Badura-Skoda and Stefan Askenase.
