Lviv's Polish masterpieces come home

A major exhibition of Polish masterpieces from the Lviv National Art Gallery collection has opened as part of the Christian Cultural Festival in Lodz, central Poland.

The Opus Sacrem, Opus Profanum exhibition, curated by Igor Chomyn, brings together a collection of 2000 paintings from the sixteenth century to the beginning of World War II.

Included in the exhibition - the most impressive collection of Polish art held outside of Poland - are works by Józef Brandt, Olga Boznańska, Jacek Malczewski and Jan Matejko.

The paintings can be seen in Lodz till 12 January 2014. (pg)
