The survey compared ticket prices for opera, ballet, museums, classical music concerts and heritage sites in a number of cities across Europe.

In Warsaw, the total cost for tickets covering the five aforementioned categories was 69.65 pounds, followed by Budapest (80.35 pounds) and Prague (90.52 pounds).

The most expensive cities for cultural attractions were London (265.25 pounds), Paris (251.65 pounds) and Barcelona (241.58 pounds).

“We based our report on the idea that people would want to visit galleries and museums every day on a short break and spend evenings at music-based events,” said Post Office spokesman Andrew Brown, as cited by The Daily Telegraph.

“What we found was that while every city surveyed boasts world-class cultural attractions, prices vary dramatically.

“This means culture vultures can save hundreds of pounds by doing their homework before booking and swap expensive cities for cheaper ones,” he concluded. (nh)
