The event places an emphasis on astronomy and science, echoing the city's connections with astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus (Mikolaj Kopernik), who was born in the city in 1473.
“Installations presented during the festival will become time machines taking visitors on a breathtaking journey through space and time,” the festival organisers enthuse.

The installations, which often combine a variety of elements, including video art, 3D visualisations and animation, are transforming the city by night, with historic buildings appearing in unexpected guises.
The festival was originally created in 2009, as part of the city's bid to be European City of Culture in 2016.
Ultimately, Wroclaw was picked by the Polish government, with Torun losing out together with other candidate Bialystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdansk, Katowice, Lublin, Lodz, Poznan and Szczecin.
The Bella Skyway Festival runs until 30 August. (nh)
