The website at kulturaparyska.com includes 637 issues of the ‘Kultura’ monthly published between 1947 and 2000, 171 issues of ‘Zeszyty Historyczne’, as well as manuscripts, recordings, photographs, films, and interviews documenting the activites of the Literary Institute, which was founded by Jerzy Giedroyć in 1946.

There is also a wealth of materials relating to many outstanding representatives of Polish culture who were closely associated with the Literary Institute over the years, notably the writers Czesław Miłosz, Witold Gombrowicz, Marek Hłasko, Gustaw Herling-Grudziński and Andrzej Bobkowski.

Visitors to the site can also go on a virtual tour of the Institute’s seat at Maison-Laffitte near Paris.

The publications of the Literary Institute were banned in communist Poland. Following the death of its founder Jerzy Giedroyć in 2000, the publication of the Kultura monthly was discontinued. (mk/pg)
