The show, held at the Museum of Modern Art, is designed to demonstrate the significance of architecture in the new political reality, as well as its impact on creating an image for Poland abroad.

Twenty five models are on display, marking the 25 years since the collapse of communism.

Minister Omilanowska said in a speech opening the show that looking at the examples chosen, one can see that “excellent architecture is being built in Poland,” adding that EU funds had provided an extra spur in the last 10 years.

Among the models on display are those of the Centre for the Documentation of the Art of Tadeusz Kantor in Krakow, The Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, and The Scientific Information Centre and Academic Library in Katowice.

The exhibition has been organised by the monthly Architektura-Murator, and it will run until 14 December.

The Museum of Modern Art is currently housed in temporary quarters on Panska Street, with new headquarters set to be opened in 2019, although the initial winning design will not be built owing to wrangles between City Hall and architect. (nh/pg)
