Filming on comedy Shaandar began in August in England, with the plot revolving around a wedding that joins two of India's most powerful clans.

“The main producer decided to move some of the filming from England to Kozlowka because of the amazing interiors of the palace,” commented Maciej Zemojcin, chairman of Film Polska Productions, co-producer of the movie.

“It's an incredible property.”

Bollywood heartthrob Shahid Kapoor plays a groom who is struggling with insomnia in the movie, opposite bride Alia Bhatt.

The 18th century Kozlowka Palace near Lublin belonged to the aristocratic Zamoyski family prior to World War II. It was confiscated by the state during the communist era, and the property has served as a museum since 1979.

Shaandar marks the latest in a line of Indian-Polish co-productions. On Friday 7 November, comedy thriller Kick opened in Poland, Bollywood's second highest grossing movie of all time. The film's climax was shot in Warsaw at the Palace of Culture and Science. (nh)
