Poles’ reading habits revealed

Over the last year 19 million Poles have not read a single book, reveals a new study by The National Library of Poland.

To put it into perspective, the population of Poland numbered 38.5 million in 2013.

Around 6.2 million of those did not even read magazines or internet news.

Over ten million Poles did not own a single book.

Just one in 10 Poles declared they read more than seven books a year, this was an increase of 2.5 percent over the previous year.

The younger generations read the most, with 71 percent of Poles aged between 15 and 19 reading books, and 73 percent of those in high-school and university levels. (rg)
