Giant Stig statue in Poland for BBC promo

A 10-metre-high statue of The Stig, the test driver for the BBC's popular car show Top Gear, is in Poland to promote the launch of a new global TV channel called BBC Brit.

The fibreglass sculpture, which has been driven by lorry from the UK, will briefly stop in Poznan on Tuesday, before setting up shop on Warsaw's Plac Defilad on 29 January.
BBC Brit, which will be launched in Poland on 1 February, is squarely aimed at male viewers, and the perennially popular Top Gear will be one of its flagship programmes.
The 22 series of Top Gear will likewise begin in Poland on 1 February.
The Stig has been a feature of Top Gear since 2002, with presenters maintaining the running joke that no one knows who the character actually is. (nh)
