'Treasures from Chopin's Country' brings together close to 350 pieces from collections across Poland.

Poland's ministry of culture, which is a co-organiser of the event, together with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (the country's official promoter of Polish culture), has described the project as ''the first major presentation of Polish art in China.''

Works on show run the gamut from medieval sculptures of the Virgin Mary to Polish film posters from the 1950s and 1960s.

In a nod to the title of the show itself, objects relating to the life of Poland's most celebrated composer Fryderyk Chopin, have also been included.

The exhibition runs until 10 May 2015, and it was launched by Minister of Culture Małgorzata Omilanowska. (nh)
