Polish paranormal video game wins BAFTA

Polish horror adventure game 'The Vanishing of Ethan Carter' won the BAFTA for Game Innovation at the British Academy Games Awards on Thursday night.

The awards, which were held by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, are regarded as among the most prestigious in the industry.

Created by Polish studio The Astronauts, 'The Vanishing of Ethan Carter' is a horror adventure game, currently available on Microsoft Windows, and soon to be available on Playstation 4.

Gamers take the role of Paul Prospero, a detective with paranormal abilities who goes in search of missing boy Ethan Carter in the haunting Red Creek valley.

Released in September 2014, the game immeadiately won a raft of rave reviews.

Studio The Astronauts was founded in 2012 and 'The Vanishing of Ethan Carter' is their debut.

Thursday's awards ceremony in London also saw US studio Bungie win the gong for Best Game for 'Destiny', which pits humans in the last city on Earth against an alien invasion. (nh)
