Although chiefly celebrated as a writer, Grass, who died on 13 April, was also accomplished in the plastic arts.
“We decided that this time we would show Grass from the side of the workshop as a highly versatile artist who created using multiple techniques,” commented curator Marta Wróblewska, in an interview with the Polish Press Agency.
“So in this exhibition, we'll see etchings, aquatints, prints, lithographs and drawings done in various ways, for example charcoal and ink.
“Sculptures can also be found at the show.”
Exhibits will be gleaned from the city's branch of the National Museum, as well as the Gunter Grass Gallery in Gdańsk, with the latter hosting the current show.
The Nobel Prize-winning artist, who was an honorary citizen of Gdańsk, passed away following a lung infection. He was 87. (nh)
