Adapted from 'Drive your Plough over the Bones of the Dead', the plot is set in the Lower Silesian countryside, where a string of murders takes its toll on local hunters and poachers.

An eccentric retired lady and animal lover indicates that the killings were carried out by the beasts of the forest themselves in revenge against the huntsmen.

Producers have enthused that the film will combine “the ironic tone of the Coen brothers” with the “illusory world of Wes Anderson.”

The crew began filming in the village of Kotlina Kłodzka, and scenes will also be shot in the Czech Republic.

Seasoned director Holland won an Oscar nomination for her Holocaust drama In Darkness (2011), winning further acclaim for her Cold War era miniseries Burning Bushing. She has also directed episodes of cult serials The Wire and The Killing.

She began her career working as an assistant director to Krzysztof Zanussi, and she has written scripts for film-makers including Andrzej Wajda. (nh)
