The prize, which is organised by the Esprit d'Europe, was founded in 2007, and offers a EUR 10,000 cheque each for two winners.

The European Book Prize is handed out in two categories: essays and novels. In 2015, 14 titles were nominated in the essay category, and Szczepan Twardoch’s “Morfina/Morphine” and Zygmunt Miłoszewski’s "Ziarno prawdy/A grain of truth" are battling 11 others in the novels category.

In the latter group are such works as "The Buried Giant" by Kazuo Ishiguro (UK), and “Caminho Como Uma Casa em Chamas” by Antonio Lobo Antunes (Portugal).

The Prize will be awarded on 8 December 2015. (rg)
