The ceremony on Sunday was attended by Carolyn Maloney Member of the US House of Representatives, who said that the deeds of the Poles who took part in the Rising are an “inspiration to us all”.

The Congresswoman portrayed the 1944 Warsaw Rising as one of the most important battles involving civilians in the fight against the Nazis.

“They were ordinary people, like all of us. However, they managed to fight passionately for what they believed in. It was of great importance. Their leadership should be an inspiration for what we do, what we believe in and a lesson to never lose courage,” Congresswoman Maloney said.

The mural measures around 11 metres by three metres and was painted by Rafał Pisarczyk. It was vandalised by graffiti artists in November. (rg)
