A Mexican production, it tells the story of Father Kolbe from the perspective of a contemporary teenager who learns about Kolbe’s life and martyr’s death from an old man, and it turns out that the monk’s sacrifice helps him resolve his own personal problems.

In an interview with the Polish Press Agency, Piotr Adamczyk noted that “there are several films about Father Kolbe but they were all made many years ago.

“Made in the 3D Motion Capture animation technique, ‘Max and Me’ is bound to attract younger viewers.

“I am very happy to be involved in a new film about the Polish saint though I am somewhat surprised that this Polish theme has been taken up by a foreign producer."

‘Max and Me’ is to be premiered in the summer of 2016, simultaneously in Mexico, the United States and Poland, during the World Youth Day in Kraków.

‘My work in Mexico has come to a close but I have not parted with the role of Maksymilian Kolbe as a Polish-language version is also planned with my participation’, Adamczyk said.

Adamczyk’s film credits include the portrayal of Pope John Paul II in two Italian films: ‘Karol: A Man Who Became Pope’ and ‘Karol: the Pope, the Man’. He also played Holy Roman Emperor Leopold I in an Italian-Polish co-production about the 1683 Siege of Vienna. (mk/nh/rk)
