The performance is part of a new series of concerts, taking in hospitals, hospices, retirement homes and orphanages.

“We want to take music to those who are not able to come to our concerts,” commented Elżbieta Huzior, from the orchestra's marketing department.

The current initiative is part of a programme marking the 35th anniversary of the ensemble.

The Silesian Chamber Orchestra's repertoire includes works by Antonio Vivaldi, as well as 20th century Polish luminaries such as Wojciech Kilar and Gorecki, and tangos by Astor Piazzolla. (nh/rk)
