The programme of the concert includes Polish, Scandinavian and French Christmas carols as well as a selection of contemporary works by composers from Sweden (Marten Jansson), Australia (Lisa Young) and Poland (Bartosz Banasewicz and Grzegorz Miśkiewicz).

While in the States, the ‘Skowronki’ Choir will also perform at the city’s St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, the Church of the Annunciation, and the Welte Hall at Central Connecticut State University.

The group includes fifty girls in the 12-20 age bracket. They have given over one thousand concerts in more than 20 countries since 1991, performing under their Music Director Alicja Szeluga.

The choir’s successes include the Grand Prix at the Ohrid Choir Festival in Macedonia (2011), First Prize at the International Music Festival in Cantonigros, Spain (2008) and First Prize at the 54th European Festival of Youth Choirs in Neerpelt, Belgium (2006). (mk/nh)
