ECC 2016: Wrocław and San Sebastian in joint youth celebration

Wrocław and the Spanish city of San Sebastian, both bearers of European Capital of Culture status this year, joined forces on Wednesday night for a special concert by youngsters.

About 3,000 young people from Wrocław and its environs gathered in the Silesian city's Orbit Hall while their peers in Spain's Basque region held a simultaneous concert.
The event marked the 'Tamborrada of Donostia', an annual drum festival that it is held by custom on 20 January.
Many of the Polish participants banged on home-made drums created from barrels, buckets and other items.
Polish children also played the song 'WrocLove', accompanied by a military band.
Over 1,000 artistic events are due to be held in Wrocław this year under the umbrella of its term as European Capital of Culture. (nh/pk)
