“My greatest accomplishment in life is achieving my childhood dreams. I wanted to be an artist, I wanted to be famous and I wanted the world to be in the palm of my hand – and all that thanks to music,” Kaczyński once said of himself.

Sławomir Pietras, a prominent former head of several opera theatres, said: “Thanks to [Kaczyński], millions of people in Poland started to take an interest in classical music.”

“[Kaczyński] was an important pillar of Polish culture,” Pietras added.

Born in 1942, Kaczyński was a music theorist, pianist and a graduate of the Academy of Music in Warsaw.(ua/pk)
