Szumowska is herself a regular competitor in Berlin and last year she scooped second prize – the Silver Bear – for her black comedy 'Body'.
Eighteen films are competing in the main competition this year, including one Polish movie, Tomasz Wasilewski's 'The United States of Love.'
The seven-member jury is being chaired by celebrated American actress Meryl Streep.
The festival will open on 11 February with 'Hail,Caesar!' (screening out of competition), the latest celluloid offering from the Coen brothers. The event wraps up on 21 February. (nh)
